How well do you ever REALLY know another person? Their secrets? Their fears? Their doubts?
Meet Thompson. The real Thompson. Underneath this polite chauffeur's exterior beats the heart of a warrior. A warrior who has been through hell and back. A warrior trying desperately to deal with the demons of his past. Trying desperately to bury the disappointments of his life, his actions, his failures.
Meet Maria. Sweet. Creative. Funny. With a heart of gold. Even confined to a wheelchair because of an accident, no one could define her as disabled. She longs for all the things any young woman longs for: love, connection, maybe a family. But for now, she's put that aside.
In the best-selling series, High Stakes Seduction, you got a glimpse of Thompson and Maria... the parts of themselves they normally show to the world. Now, come discover the private sides of two people struggling to leave their pasts behind. Two people fighting the limitations others have imposed on them. Two people whose lives and souls can only be Healed by Love.
Don’t miss this sexy and intense first book in the High Stakes Seduction spin-off series, Healed by LOVE by best-selling authors, Ami LeCoeur and Elle Dawson.

AMI LECOEUR
Like most romance writers, Ami LeCoeur is a romantic at heart, but in her heart it's the classic Romanticism of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
She is also a painter, glass artist, and award winning poet, as well as a writer.
When she isn't traveling, she lives on California's Redwood Coast with her husband and two kitties. She loves her wonderful ocean view, and when the fog comes in - as it always does - she's either curled up with a good book, or busy writing.

ELLE DAWSON
Sharing ones thoughts on paper is an intimate experience, and should not be taken lightly. Some days I fear this process, as my mind can be a scary place to dwell. Other days I realize I’m not alone in this journey, and although the very action of expelling ones deepest thoughts onto paper is intensely personal, it is deeply healing. Funny how that works.
The ideas for my books came at a time when I was hurting, and needed a release that only writing could bring. As a romance lover, I couldn’t make myself write of new love, when it is easy to be in love, easy to be mad for each other, easy to have sex every night. Instead, I found a need inside me to re-connect couples, to shine a light of inspiration into a bedroom that has grown cold.
So I will continue to write as Elle Dawson, and be a mom, sister, daughter and friend in my real life. And read books that take me away or speed up my heart.

“I’m not sure you want me
cooking for you, or anyone else. I feel like you kidnapped me and you’re trying to give me this life that’s not really mine. I don’t feel like the type to be controlled.”

Paxton placed a finger over both my lips and shushed me with a quiet, “Shhh, hush now. I assure you with everything in me that you are the type to be controlled. That’s why you suck my dick. That’s why your legs fall apart whenever I come near you. You’re a slut. My slut. I own you.” His dry, sultry words,  touched my lips while his fingsers slid down the middle of my neck. One straight line. The dry swallow stuck in my chest when his hold over me wrapped gently around my throat. His grip tightened and his lips met mine. “Shhh, don’t talk, baby girl. Turn around and go take a shower like you were told”
My eyes cowardly dropped to the floor and I submitted.

My name is Jettie Woodruff. I am from Ohio. I don't know what genre I write in. People tell me I have my own genre. I write whatever I feel, because that's what makes me happy. I don't want to be in that box where I can only write one genre. I tend to like my bad boy's, taboo; touchy subjects that make you want to throw your kindle. Usually at said hot alpha male. Sometimes the female lead as well. My motto is life is short. Very short. If it doesn't make you happy anymore then why do it? Move on. Some of my favorite things, besides writing are friends, family, and the beach. Music, although my interest has changed after forty, I like the new stuff. Happy Reading.

Then she meets a boy... father approved... until said boy turns into someone she never expected. She’s worried and doesn’t know what to do.
Her classmate, Olympic swimming hopeful Deshawn Bell, tries to help her, even though her situation appears hopeless from every angle. He's kind and sexy as hell. Their attraction to each other is intense. But neither of them are prepared for the hidden danger their relationship presents.

Innocent Joselyne Bennett loves her quiet life. As an elementary teacher her days include teaching kids then going home to research fun science projects to add to her lesson plan. Her only excitement is living vicariously through her sister Lorali and friend Alexa Warner.

Incredibly gorgeous police detective Kaleb Perez was going through the motions of life. His position on the force as a narcotics detective forced him to cross paths with Josie after a shooting involving her friend.

On more than one occasion Kaleb discretely tried to catch Josie’s eye. On every occasion he was ignored but when her hand is forced after a break-in at her apartment Josie and Kaleb are on a collision course with each other. Formerly timid Josie is coaxed out of her shell by the sexy-as-sin Kaleb who nurtures her inner sex-kitten in the most seductive ways, and replaces her inexperience with passionate need.

The small group has overcome so much in such a short period of time and just when they think they can settle back into their lives they are forced back into the unknown. Can Kaleb protect Josie from further tragedy? Can she let him go once the threat of danger is gone?

This is a standalone contemporary novel. The next book in the Hale Series: To Hale and Back is the conclusion of the series and in the point of view of all six characters.

Recommended for readers 18 and up due to strong language and explicit sexual content.

EXCERPT

“How long do you think you can hold out, Mariposa?” I’m teasing her now, no way I’ll attempt to touch her again since she’s told me no.

She shrugs her shoulder and gives me a sly smile. “Can I hold you tonight?” I ask again, switching gears away from my desire to have her sit on my face.

“Please.” She answers.

I hold my hand out to her as I stand and grab her clothes off of the table. I tug her towards my bedroom, turning off lights as we go. I can hear Mia making her way behind us, knowing she will settle down again on her bed in the corner of my room for the night.

“I didn’t pack sleep clothes,” I inform Josie as we step into my room. “I guess you’ll just have to sleep naked.”

She steps away from me and just as I think she’s about to protest, she reaches behind her, lowers the zipper on her skirt, and lets it fall to the ground. She’s facing the bed and the sight of her beautiful back, narrow hips, and smooth legs make me groan.

When she bends over to pick her skirt up off the floor my cock jumps in my pants. Instinctively my hand reaches down and grips it. “That’s fine.” She replies as she walks her skirt to me and drops it on top of her other clothing in my hand.

I growl at her, drop her clothes on the dresser, and pull out a t-shirt. A very large t-shirt. One that ensures nothing will be peeking out once she has it on. “On second thought,” I say as I hand it over to her. She giggles and pulls it on over her head. It almost hits her at her knees. Much better.

She saunters back in front of me and reaches for the buttons on my shirt. “Josie.” I admonish mildly.

“Shhh, Kaleb. I heard what you said earlier.” She reaches up on her tip toes and kisses my chin. “You’re overdressed.”

I stand stock still and let her unbutton my shirt. She runs her tiny, warm hands up my stomach and over my pecs, causing my muscles to bunch. I’m thick and hard as steel in my pants, and there’s no sense in even trying to hide it. She knows I want her.

Author: Lauren Layne
Publisher: Loveswept
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 25, 2015

Blurb

In a novel that’s perfect for fans of Abbi Glines and Jessica Sorensen, USA Today bestselling author Lauren Layne delivers a sexy take on the timeless question: Can a guy and a girl really be “just friends”?

When Parker Blanton meets Ben Olsen during her freshman year of college, the connection is immediate—and platonic. Six years later, they’re still best friends, sharing an apartment in Portland’s trendy Northwest District as they happily settle into adult life. But when Parker’s boyfriend dumps her out of the blue, she starts to wonder about Ben’s no-strings-attached approach to dating. The trouble is, even with Ben as her wingman, Parker can’t seem to get the hang of casual sex—until she tries it with him.

The arrangement works perfectly . . . at first. The sex is mind-blowing, and their friendship remains as solid as ever, without any of the usual messy romantic entanglements. But when Parker’s ex decides he wants her back, Ben is shocked by a fierce stab of possessiveness. And when Ben starts seeing a girl from work, Parker finds herself plagued by unfamiliar jealousy. With their friendship on the rocks for the first time, Parker and Ben face an alarming truth: Maybe they can’t go back. And maybe, deep down, they never want to.

Excerpt

My sophomore year of high school, I had a short-lived friendship with this girl named Korie Hamilton.

She was nice enough.

A little too much purple eyeliner, a few too many likes sprinkled throughout her constant chatter, but we had every class together our first semester, so we kind of became friends by default.

Anyway, Korie was forever yammering on and on about how her best friend on the entire planet was Stephen Daniels, a boy she’d known for all of four weeks before promoting him to BFF status.

Apparently it was, like, ohmigod, like, the best thing ever to have a guy she could talk to without complicating things with romantic entanglements.

Please.

Real best friends can generally go more than a couple hours without mentioning each other’s name, but Korie found a way to fit Stephen’s name into every other sentence.

Just friends my ass.

I guess technically they were platonic for a while. Stephen had a girlfriend named Libby Tittles, or something unfortunate like that, and Korie had this on-again-off-again thing with her junior high boyfriend.

But anyone who’s ever seen a movie, or watched TV, or just had basic awareness of human interaction saw exactly where Korie and Stephen were heading: Humpville.

Even though Korie swore up and down that she didn’t like him like that, both of their significant others were long gone by Thanksgiving of sophomore year.

By Christmas vacation, Korie wasn’t uttering quite so many likes. Why? Because Stephen’s tongue was in her mouth before school, after school, and every freaking weekend.

But we all know how this ends, right? Just a few short months later, not only were Korie and Stephen no longer dating, they sure as hell weren’t best friends.

Their short-lived romance and ensuing breakup barely even registered a blip on the gossip chain, but I’d like to think it taught some of us high school girls a valuable lesson:

Guys and girls can’t be just friends. Or not best friends, anyway.

Shit gets too complicated.

But let’s fast-forward a few years, shall we?

I’m now twenty-four, and I have a public service announcement to make: I was wrong.

Guys and girls really can be best friends.

It is possible to have a platonic relationship with a guy where there are no romantic inklings, no sexual fantasies, and no na├»ve proclamations of I don’t like him like that in a torturous attempt to hide an agonizing unrequited love.

How do I know this? How do I know that a guy and a girl can be best friends without romantic entanglements?

Well, let’s see, I’ve been on the female end of one such platonic relationship for six years now.

Six. Years.

True story:

Ben Olsen and I met the summer before our first year at University of Oregon during freshman orientation. We were assigned to the same group in one of those terrible ice-breaking activities where you have to put a sticky note on your head and guess what kind of safari animal you are, or something, and we just . . .

Clicked?

I don’t know why we clicked in the Hey, you’re cool but I have no interest in boning you kind of way, but we did.

Maybe it was because I was in stupid insta-love with another guy in our group. Or maybe because my ovaries were hyperaware that Ben’s ridiculous good looks would lead to heartbreak. But whatever the reason, we did the implausible.

We became best friends.

And, yes, every single one of my female friends has given me the exact same warnings I gave Korie Hamilton way back when: It won’t work.

My friends are split down the middle on how it will actually go down, but they’re all convinced that it will go down.

Half think that Ben and I are soulmates who are just biding our time until marriage and babies.

The other half think that we’re going to have too much to drink one night, have awful sex, and never speak again.

Ben and I proved them wrong when freshman year ended and our friendship was still intact. Sophomore year? Repeat.

Junior year, we really upped our game. Not only were we closer than ever, but we became roommates. It happened sort of by accident when one of his housemates backed out at the last minute, and I belatedly realized I couldn’t bear one more year of dorm food, so I moved in. And it worked. So we did it again senior year.

Here we are, two years after graduation, still living together, although we’ve upgraded from crappy off-campus housing in Eugene to a slightly less crappy two-bedroom house in the Northwest neighborhood of Portland.

And yes. Still platonic as ever, with not so much as a hint of change in the air. I’m crazy in love with Lance Myers, my boyfriend of five years, and Ben . . .

Well, Ben’s on a rather awe-inspiring mission to seduce the entire female population in western Oregon.
