Title: Where Love Lives
Series: Maplewood Falls #2
Author: K. Street
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 23, 2020

I’ve never had a place to call home.
Growing up in foster care, I learned not to get attached.
The day Easton Chadwick walks into my life, my sense of self-preservation falls by the wayside.
When I’m in his arms, it’s easy to believe in the fairy tale. Then, tragedy strikes, serving as a soul-crushing reminder that nothing lasts forever.
Suffocated by fear, I pack my bags, leaving Easton and the town of Maplewood Falls behind.
Several months later, I come face-to-face with the man who still owns nearly every part of me, but one night fueled by alcohol and bad decisions doesn’t change anything.
At least, that’s what I tell myself …
Until those two pink lines appear.
For the first time in my life, I’m willing to lay my heart on the line for a family and a place to call home.
Because home is where love lives.

Our parents walked over, and my dad hauled me against his chest, hugging me tight.
He pulled back, looked me in the eye, and then asked, “You okay, Tater Tot?”
I held his gaze when I gave him my answer, “I’m okay, Daddy.”
He placed a kiss on my forehead. “You’re getting there, baby girl. You’re getting there.”
“All right, stop monopolizing our daughter.”
“Patience has never been your mama’s strong suit,” Dad remarked.
She gigged him in the side.
Daddy gave her a stern look. “Woman.”
“I’ve been married to you for over thirty-four years. I’d say that’s some kind of patience.” She cocked her hip.
“Is that right?”
“It sure is.”
My daddy gripped my mama around her waist, dipped her low, and kissed her within an inch of her life. Catcalls and wolf whistles filled the air.
He held her tight as he stood. Mom buried her face in his chest. Daddy wouldn’t let her hide though. He hooked his finger under her chin, tilting her face upward.
Their eyes locked.
“I love you, baby,” he professed.
“I love you back.” She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him on the mouth.
Emotion swelled inside me at the sight of my parents. The love surrounding them was tangible. They’d had so many years together. An old, familiar ache flared in my chest.
My daddy always looked at my mama like she’d hung the moon and sprinkled the stars in the night sky. When I was little, my mother had often told me to marry a man who looked at me the way my father looked at her.
And so, I had. Then, I’d lost him.
I looked up to find Jase looking at me. And I saw it. The same look of utter adoration my father wore every time my mother walked into the room.
Grandma’s words settled in my soul.
“One day, you’ll be ready to open your heart again, and you’ll see that maybe where forever ends is just a different beginning.”
I smiled at Jase with the pieces of my heart, and he smiled at me with the whole of his.
